... this opened up the freedom to impose a National government upon those states who had ceased to exist. All three of these ideas filtered down though political ideologues and became a "vague guide" (75) for bringing the south back into line. It seems that the Republicans wished to guarantee freedman's rights without giving them 3 a guarantee! At least this is the argument of Benedict ... incredible and I find it difficult to even think about trying to critique him to see if he has a bias in his writings. The only thing that might be a question to me sounds foolish but a raise the question...
