The first one being rather obvious, that the farewell to arms was pertaining to Frederic's surrender of his weapons, and arms in war. Frederic was sick of war, considering that there was no reason for him ... will ever see each other again. In the end, the two lovers are separated in death, and have given a farewell and end to their relationship. Although Frederic will never forget Catherine, their life together has been ended dramatically...
