... the story. I understand that he wanted to put in the modern view of the tale, but Jakucha's view seemed a little abstract. The idea of Genji actually raping these women never crossed my mind. Sure he may have "preyed upon- (I use this phrase loosely) women who were gullible, but I don't think he meant to harm them. Tyler could have made this idea less abstract ... I felt about the story. I felt that Genji was doing these women a favor by being their lover. I know that sounds a little harsh but that's what I felt. The women he was involved with probably were not the most attractive women...
