Cyrano de Bergerac - A hero

Cyrano de Bergerac was no doubt an outstanding hero. He acted on his own set of morals that none could faulted with. Most often, people would relate the term hero with fighting or war. While Cyrano was indeed a hero in that sense, he was also a hero in romance and pride. Yet is seems like his nose that is always a few steps ahead of him, keeps him from reaching his full potential. Making him think that no one will ever appreciate or love him because of this "defect-. If said simply, Cyrano was a hero, but what characteristics made him this unforgettable literary and skilled hero? .
For the connotation that everyone is aware off, a hero is often described as a man who is endowed with great courage and strength. This description of a hero perfectly matches Cyrano. At the end of the first act, Cyrano does and helps Ligniere and fights one hundred men all by himself. While in theory it might not be one hundred but it was close enough. Cyrano displayed great courage by accepting this fight and helping out a fellow poet and also displayed strength by defeating all of those men. .
Even in a time of war and starvation Cyrano risks his life to deliver letters, supposedly written by Christian, to Roxane. He braves across the enemy lines every single day, being a target for the opposition to take a shot at. Yet he is not discouraged by that fact that he is not stealthy, he is encouraged by the fact that he is a target for people to shoot at. Furthermore, he also retrieves the scarf of that which de Guiche has dropped. The scarf, which signifies one's rank. While de Guiche was smart enough and throws down his rank to live another day, if Cyrano was in the place of de Guiche, he would've taken the risk and display heroic behavior. Knowing no fear and risking his own life to deliver a letter to a person who don't know whom the writer is.
It takes a tremendous amount of heroism and courage to keep your love for someone you are always around with for those years preceding and proceeding Christian's death.
