The Most Influential Person in My Life

The most influential person in my life is not a millionaire, or a movie star, is not someone famous or in a popular band. The most influential person is my life, is a survivor of many things. My step-dad has had more than a few brushes with death, and has showed me many times that isn't what you've been through, its how you deal with what you've been through.
My step-dad came into my life when I was two years old. He willingly took on the full time job of being my dad. He raised me as if I was his own daughter, and obviously I didn't know the difference since I started calling him dad before my mom and step-dad got married. Dad has been through a lot in his life, but you would never know if you talked to him. He sends out vibes of happiness as if he were high on life. When someone talks to him, he comes across as having the perfect life, never having any problems. Dad got hit by a car when he was 12 and was in a coma for 10 days. He flat lined twice, the doctors gave him only 12 hours to live, and he if he lived he was expected to never walk again. My dad proved everyone wrong when he was released from the hospital two months later as he walked out on his own. My grandma always tells me the story of when dad got hit by the car and how much of a fighter he was. He kept a positive attitude and not being able to ever walk again was not an option for dad. Three days after being released from the hospital, dad went to a fair where a roman candle hit him in the back of the neck causing severe third degree burns. Back to the hospital he went, where the doctors were in awe over how he survived again. .
In 1993, my dad worked on Broadway Street close to the World Trade Center, the day of the bombing my dad was in a meeting there. He survived and came home to us that night still keeping his positive attitude on life. In 1997, my dad had an allergic reaction that caused his throat to close. I remember I watched him turn blue as the paramedics tried doing everything they could as he was rushed to the hospital.
