Loopholes

The reading "Aid To Dependent Corporations, Exposing Federal Handouts to The Wealthy" was written by Chuck Collins who is the Co-Coordinator of the Share the Wealth Project. This reading is in my opinion an exposure article. This reading is one that informs people of the massive amounts of tax breaks that the countless and wealthiest people and corporations are legally entitled to. If not originally entitled they managed to find loopholes to help their cause. The article gives examples of the massive amounts of monies that are involved and, ideas wear the money could have been spent more wisely.
I feel that if corporations and big businesses that are going to be allowed to lease government lands should be liable to pay a fair market value for these lands. The business and corporations are getting so many other tax breaks that all this is doing is lining the owner's pockets. I know the main objective to business is to make a profit but at whose expense. These practices do not seem like good business ethics to me. The monies that the government could get from leasing these lands at fair market value could be use to help in other areas such as the land owner who's land is sitting untouched, the budget deficit, aid to dependent children and Medicare and a good many other legitimate causes.

I do accept as true that some of the tax breaks that are in place, held legitimacy at one point, and some still do. There are so many loopholes one case in point, would be the accelerated depreciation law. This law allows corporations to take this deduction faster and allow more profits not to be taxed. The original depreciation law should apply to all as it was first proposed.
I do not believe that executive's salaries should be counted as expense as explained in the reading. I agree with the law that was implemented in 1993, that put a ceiling on this. According to my understanding of the reading, they have managed to find a loophole to this ruling as well, allowing for easy evasion of this law as well.
