             Americans have lived in the land of the ridiculously free for too long. Yes, we should remain free to make choices, free to live in a country where American's influence laws, but when a person can take another person's life and still be free to live their life, it is an extreme injustice to the meaning. .
             "When someone takes a life, the balance of justice is disturbed. Unless that balance is restored, society succumbs to a rule of violence. Only the taking of the murderer's life restores the balance and allows society to show convincingly that murder is an intolerable crime, which will be punished in kind." (4 para. 1) .
             "Public concern with violent crime is generating strong support for the death penalty. A series of shocking murders in the past few years has focused public attention once again on the death penalty. The deaths caused by the Oklahoma City bombers, the "Unabomber" and others have lent support to advocates of capital punishment. They continue to argue that capital punishment not only deters crime but also helps the families of murder victims find "closure."" (5 para. 1).

             Public opinion needs to be stepped up a notch. The government should step in and monitor how the everyday man feels about capital punishment. I strongly want the death penalty enforced, but what can I do about it? I believe a lot of people take this stance. People who just don't know how the government works. Individuals with strong opinions, who support the death penalty, but without a vehicle to get their voices heard. I believe the government should make that "vehicle" as easy to get as nicotine.
