Why Nerds are Unpopular

What I like best about Paul Graham's article is his personal experience and the way that what he said was true for the most part. In this article, Graham writes about what why he feels that nerds are unpopular and he can write about this certain subject because he once used to be a nerd. Graham is right about the lunch tables in high school. I know at my high school we had our cliques of people sitting at certain tables. Every one basically knew that social group they were a part of and if they tried to associate with a particular group, that group would talk to them, but not really pay them any attention. Graham also stated that in elementary school, you are not an outcast if you are smart, but as soon as you hit secondary school, you are. Once again, for the most part, this is true. In elementary school, the smart kids get along with the average kids. The children that tend to be made fun of in these years are the ones that dress differently. .
I also would have to agree with Graham when he says that nerds do not really want to be popular. Nerds know what is more important to them and they would rather get an education over wearing the name brand clothes and participating in sports. If they wanted to be popular, they could probably do that. Nerds have their priorities set. Their number one priority is to become something in life and in order to do that, they have to be smart or at least do well in school to get a decent education. Like Graham said, "nerds serve to masters, they want to be popular .but they want even more to be smart." Just as being smart is a job, being popular is also a job that takes hard work and dedication. Nerds do have other things to think about and while the popular kids are thinking what are they going to wear the next day to school, the nerds are thinking bout what homework they have or studying for a test. .
To a certain estint, Paul graham said that nerds are ahead and what he said is right.
