To Kill a Mockingbird

" Shoot all the Bluejays you want, if you hit "em, but remember it's a sin to kill a Mocking Bird" .
The mockingbird represents innocence. Like hunters who kill mockingbirds for sport, people kill innocence, or other people who are innocent, without thinking about what they are doing. Atticus stands firm in his defense of innocence and urges his children not to shoot mockingbirds both literally and figuratively. The mockingbird motif arises numerous times during the novel To Kill a Mockingbird. This motif is carried out through Tom Robinson, Boo Radley, Atticus and Mayella Ewell. .
Tom Robinson, a simple ,kind, and helpful man. If he was white, he would probably be a very highly respected, influencial man. Although he is black. And as a consequence was unfairly accused of raping Mayella Ewell. Even though it was painfully evident that Tom was innocent, he was proclaimed guilty and was later murdered. Tom Robinson is a perfect example of a mockingbird. All he was trying to do was help someone in need, regardless of their skin colour. He didn't hurt anyone, but he was shot , just like a sportsman would kill a mockingbird.
The mocking bird motif is also carried out through Boo Radley. Like Tom he is an innocent character who hadn't hurt anyone. His image was spoilt by malicous rumours and his youth was robbed off him when his parents,foot-washing baptists most probably brainwashed him to stay @ home. They obviously didn't tie him or lock boo at home, they most probably influenced him to stay at home. so his parents and the people who spread rumours of him have made him a mockingbird. Boo is one also bcoz he is vulnerable and cannot do anything against all these unjust against him.
