             Princess Diana was symbol, almost and idol, to millions of people around the world. At her time, she turned heads wherever she went, helped many people in different parts of the world and a competition for many news broadcasters and reporters to see who could produce the juiciest gossip on her. Throughout Princess Diana's life, she touched the hearts of many people and in turn received the title, "the candle in the wind." .
             Princess Diana was a woman who spent a great deal of her life helping the less fortunate. She also spent a great deal of her life in the spotlight, constantly being stalked by reporters and paparazzi, which eventually lead to the cause of her death in 1997. Millions of people around the world were astonished by Princess Diana. She was beautiful and defiant. She was many peoples' hero, and many looked up to her. She was a sacrificial symbol in many ways. She projected an image that showed the softer side of her, caring for sick, unfortunate children, and for this, many people looked up to her. Divorced woman also related to her, which increased her popularity. This gave reason to the paparazzi to continue taking more and more pictures of her which in turn led to Diana's death.
             Diana's marriage to Prince Charles was one of the biggest events in that time. She met Charles through her sister. Charles, being 12 years older than Diana, had dated her sister a few years before they got together. Diana and Charles were married July 29, 1981 at St Paul's Cathedral. The wedding was broadcast in 74 countries and watched by 750 million people worldwide. Diana was the first English woman to marry an heir to the throne in over 300 years.

             At the ceremony the Archbishop of Canterbury said, "Here is the stuff of which fairy tales are made." But the fairy tale was an illusion, as Diana had already discovered. Prince Charles was still in love with an old girlfriend, Camilla Parker-Bowles.
