Gay Marriage

Jane Hanna, of the Witherspoon Society Church brings forth a very acceptable point. She says that:.
None of us has been given the power to determine upon whom God's blessing should be given. As others have pointed out, the health of a committed relationship between two people is a far more important moral concern than the matter of who the two people may be. On no way do the faithful relationships of homosexual couples threaten heterosexual relationships. Any loving relationships between people give additional health to the whole community. Any loving relationships between people give additional health to the whole community. We know the subject is not likely to be dropped, but we are grateful that for now this uncharitable attempt at exclusion has become defeated. (Hanna).

This coming from the mouth of a Presbyterian church leader seems to be very non-biased and open to what we call equality. Although this is the opinion of one member, not all members feel the same way.
There are many open ended arguments as to why gay marriage should not be allowed. When we start looking at Constitutional rights, it is not so vague. There are many reasons that follow the laws which we already have in place rallying that homosexual partnership or unions should be allowed.
In the United States we say that all people are equal. Well, all married couples should be equal and allowed to have the same benefits if this is truly how we run this place. Unfortunately, it seems as though our laws are becoming a form of "catch 22", if you will. For a married couple are able to receive each other's pension benefits and other benefits such as company medical and dental plans. At the same time, we do not allow gay marriage which means that people who have been living together in a relationship for say 20 years are not allowed to be married and enjoy the financial benefits of marriage due to their sexual orientation.
