The Missing Pieces

In a local newspaper everyday, there are many different articles to choose from, some of which have pictures or visual images. Certain people will read an article from an interesting headline while others will notice an intriguing photograph. The photograph of an article gives you a better understanding of what really happened instead of you having to visualize it yourself. The picture I have chosen is a very famous picture from September 11th, 2001. The woman is completely covered in dust from the collapses of the World Trade Centers. The article is about how the woman's life is still affected from that day.
The picture from the article is very important because it specifically shows how her life was suddenly changed. It gives you a better understanding of what happened to her that day and how she was affected by it. She is dressed up in a nice skirt and jacket and has on some jewelry. I think she looks classy, like she is someone very important. You can see that she has no pocketbook or anything else that would hold any piece of information. The article itself is very thorough .
             .
and that is what makes it important. Reading the article you can get an idea of what the woman did go through and what she goes through now. .
Many people who read an article from a newspaper or a magazine do not get the full understanding of it if it does not incorporate a picture or visual. The writer of the article can express something in words so you can try to imagine something in your head but with an actual picture, you can get the true effect of the reading. In the article Life Still Shrouded In Dust, by Merle English it states, "A photograph that captured her covered with dust in a frozen stance appeared in newspapers, magazines and on television programs around the world." (English) It would be easy to get a visual in your head from that but it wouldn't be as affected as the actual picture that is attached with the article.
