Eye of The Beholder

Analyltical Film Review by Marcel Cicero.
The Eye of the Beholder, directed by Stephan Elliot, is a film, which explores the obsession of a private eye that falls in love with the murderer he is investigating. The movie Eye of the Beholder focuses on visual representations of the characters" state of mind. The main character gets in a state of mind that becomes attached, both psychologically and emotionally to the character. .
A lonely British intelligence agent who is known as Lucky (Ewan McGregor) is haunted by the loss of his daughter. In what seems to promise a dissertation away from his solitude, Lucky's current mission is to track down the beautiful Joanna Eris (Ashley Judd) who is suspected of blackmailing the son of a high ranking British official. After he unexpectedly witnesses the suspect's first murder, Lucky becomes increasingly involved. He collects every piece of evidence she leaves behind, and everywhere she goes, he follows. The availability of high-tech tools and his very carefully measured proximity to the well-disguised criminal offers Lucky a privileged position of observer and spy. However, in spite of the cautioning by a worried co-worker (KD Lang), Lucky loses sight of the dangers and risks he takes which could be life threatening. .
Joanna realises now that she has been followed by Lucky. Years ago, she tried to kill herself several times. Lucky gathered this information from Joanna's detention centre counsellor. She said "Survival of the fittest" and "Kill or be killed." That was Joanna's reason by which she lives. .
The Eye of the Beholder attempts to interweave the psychosis of the two main characters. While Lucky struggles with the guilt of losing his wife and his daughter, Joanna is blinded by the fears that originated long ago, when her father abandoned her. However, Eye of the Beholder successfully establishes its characters" actions and what they are doing. .
When you first watch this film, you think to yourself "I don't understand this movie at all" or "this is a really bad movie," but when you watch it again, you can then understand it a bit more and how it works.
