Her - Directed by Spike Jonze

Theodore becomes depressed by this thought, and starts to push Samantha away. Eventually, Samantha and the other operating systems eventually find a way to leave this world and go onto another world, thus ending her relationship with Theodore. Theodore realizes that he may actually be able to handle what is deemed by society to be "real life " relationships and decides to write a very personal letter to his ex-wife to try and repair the damage between them. The film ends with Theodore and one of his close friends from college, Amy, sharing an embrace. .
The first shot that director Spike Jonze and cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema create to show Theodore's feelings of loneliness is the shot of Theodore leaving work on a tram. He is crowded all around by a large group of people. He is crammed into the corner of the shot with his arms folded making him look extremely small. He is looking down, averting everyone's gaze. The shot is full of people all looking around, although everyone is talking to their own personal operating systems. This scene is very early on in the film, it is one of the first scenes to establish Theodore as a very lonely character. The decision to have the scene take place on a tram in the first place allows the cinematographer and director the ability to make Theodore seem even more crammed into the shot. Theodore being forced into the corner of the screen and having his body almost contorted to make himself seem smaller than he actually is helps gives the audience a very claustrophobic feeling, and having him stare directly at his phone the entire scene also gives off the eerie feeling of overt loneliness.
The second shot happens more towards the middle of the film. Theodore is seen sitting on a bench in a very crowded park. People are all walking in front of him, restricting the audience from actually seeing Theodore. There is a giant movie screen seen right behind him, and on the screen is a giant bald eagle that seems to be flying right towards him.
