Another form of harassment in the workplace may be as a result of undermining an employee who is competent and this may be made by the employer or a fellow employee. A fellow employee may undermine a colleague by portraying him or her in the wrong picture to the authorities. The idea may be in order for such individual not to get a chance of being promoted and this may be done because of being jealous. The process of being undermined may be instigated because of hate that may exist between two people and such hate should not be allowed to prevail in the workplace since it will lower the levels of productivity. Hate and malice may also make the employer undermine a competent employee. Harassment in the workplace may also result because of the unfair treatment of workers resulting from favoring some workers and being harsh to others and thus signifying inequality. The favors may include allowing promotion and training activities to some employees while, on the other hand, denying others (Orlov, 18).Sexual harassment may also occur in the workplace and it may entail the form of sexual advances and favors that are unwelcome. It may entail the physical or verbal conduct which portrays a sexual nature. The harassment is intimidating and may be done by a manager or the employer to an employee for promotion purposes (Welsh, 23). The act is wrong since promotions in a company should be based on merit and should not be biased and be based on sexual favors. The employer who seeks sexual advances in order to carry out promotions should be sued and should face the law. Another form of sexual harassment may occur if a person is seeking employment opportunities in the company and the manager entitled to the recruitment process demands sexual favors in order for such a person to get that opportunity. Other notable forms of sexual harassment that take the verbal form include making sexual insults or jokes and comments describing the sex life or the body of a person.
