There are many different types of insurance, which are designed to meet the need of all kinds of people who are in different financial stages. First we have Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs) and Exclusive Provider Organizations (EPOs). There organizations limit the coverage they provide within their own network. Places like your regular doctors may not be within the network and therefore you would have to pay the full cost of your health visit. HMOs usually include primary doctors and specialists when referred to, unlike EPOs. Next we have Preferred provider Organizations (PPOs) and Point of Service Plans (POS), which gives you the option of picking health service providers in and out of their network. But if an outsider is chosen it might cost more than an insider would. With a PPO plan, you ca visit any doctor without a referral but in a POS plan you would need a referral to see an outside doctor. Another type of insurance is the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP), which offers lower premiums and higher deductibles.
