During the past few years I have failed to see a prosperous change in the health care of juvenile diabetics. Being a juvenile diabetic myself, I have witnessed many unexpected deaths due to the lack of diabetic control put forth to aid such arduous disease. Many of our young people, today's youth, are being forced to live their lives with diabetes because of it's heredity. As I open my eyes and travel through today's journey of life it hurts me to see children struggling to fight such illness. This is were something has to be done to prevent our youth from feeling as if diabetes is a book bag full of rocks weighing them down. I would like to contribute greatly to the youth by becoming a Diabetic Educator. This will open up an opportunity for me to educate the youth on the significance of the disease which will help them developed a thorough understanding of what their bodies are going through. The major problem that the youth encounter is that they try to reject the disease instead of accepting it. This is when juvenile diabetics have to understand that they "can" live with diabetes as long as they can accept it and keep it under control. The key to living with a disease is to control it and not to let it control you because it can cause death. I refuse to let another child's death devastate my generation due to lack of knowledge or just being careless about one's health. I am encouraged to support the youth because of my personal encounter with diabetes and the importance of the youth which is our tomorrow. What we are taught now will reflect our future, this is the reason I am following my dream to be an Educator.
