Although Canada is seen as a relatively peaceful country, it has already proven itself to have a credible army once in a battle that no one will soon forget. With an army of over 15 000 men with a new outlook on military tactics and what seemed like a limitless supply of artillery, this was Canada's "grand entrance ". The new tactics the Canadian Troops used in the battle of Vimy Ridge is part of the reason this battle was such a huge victory. Instead of going along with the traditional trench tactic used in a majority of World War 1, Canadians tried something new. The Canadian approach to the Battle of Vimy Ridge was to fight the Germans head-on and force them out of the trenches. This approach, obviously, proved useful. Next, the enormous amount of supplies the Canadians had showed the world that Canadians didn't need the backing of the British to fight. Not only did Canada's military, as young at it is compared to the rest of the countries' militaries, come out with new and improved tactics it also trained each of its soldiers well enough to go through with this plan and handle all of the machinery.
