Overcoming Hatred

"Hate is an insecurity in disguise.
Unfortunately, there are countless people out there that are disliked because of race, religion, sexual orientation, or disability. On our part, this problem needs to be diagnosed along with a workable solution. First and foremost, we judge one another based on stereotypical reasons. About 24 students are enrolled in a normal classroom at North Port High School. 23 out of the 24 are Caucasian. That one other child is African-American. The others do not include him in things such as every day conversations, thinking that just because he is different they should treat him with disgust and disrespect. That poor boy is just like every single other kid in that classroom. He wants to learn, craves success, but most importantly just wants to fit in. We think skin color declassifies a person as a human being which is certainly unacceptable.
Last week, Zach Hodkins, born without a left arm, was interviewed on the CNN Students News. He is currently on the high school basketball team, is told constantly that he will not make it to college ball, and to give it up instantly because there is no point. That same kid was offered six college scholarships because of the outstanding skill he put on the court! While some do not make it with two functional limbs this incredible kid made it with one! The people that told him to quit because of his disability are aghast, and promised him to never "judge a book by its cover". .
In opposition, we can educate our future which will later proceed a world without hatred. Organizations like Campuspride.org teach people to treat each other equally and respectively. Classes at school can be established to show the diversity of distaste and how it plays an important role on society. States should consider legalizing gay marriage to show that it is okay for them to be who they are, and that they are no different than any other being.
