Food and Celebration

Has there ever been a time in your life that you just wanted to relive over again because it was so breathtaking? A time that impacted your life so greatly that you just couldn't forget about it. Think back in your life and imagine that moment happening. What was it about it that made it so memorable? The people you were with? The sounds? The surroundings? How about the food? Has food ever made you closer to someone or given you the chance to relate to someone? If you think about it many people use food as a mediator. It is all around us and is not only used for nutrition but as a way of celebration. People go out to dinner on a date or get together as a family for a nice dinner. It allows us to get to know one another and gives us a time of relaxation. We are able to let go of everything and just enjoy the moment ahead of us.
As a tradition in my family one of the ways to celebrate any event is by going out to dinner. It's a special time to allow the person being celebrated to be able to have their favorite meal. A time in particular that I will never forget was my graduation dinner. I had just graduated as class valedictorian and it was a perfect night for a celebration. Due to the size of my family and my love for Italian food we went to Buca di Beppo, which is an amazing place to go if you have a large family. The experience is so excellent and the service is even better. You would never expect to see such large servings at a restaurant. It all comes in large bowls as if your table was a giant buffet, everything in front of you to be shared with your table.
I still remember the feeling of people all around me, there to celebrate my graduation. The sound of laughter, and my family coming together as one still plays a vivid image in my memory. I remember the smell of the food as it was brought to other tables around me. I was then anticipating the moment when my food would arrive, and when it finally did my taste buds started salivating.
