Fieldwork Study of an Elementary School

The posters on the wall also included classwork the students had previously done. Those included the domains, which were basically the topics the students would focus on for a certain amount of time and all their subjects (math, reading, writing, etc.) would all have to do with that one topic (i.e. the four seasons). .
Mr. Gonzalez was incredible. I think he chose the right career path for himself. He's amazing with his students and with anyone else that would walk into the classroom. From that one day I spent in his classroom I could conclude that he was kind hearted and real. He remained true to his passion and career and you could tell that he was very devoted.
The room set up wasn't as chaotic as the decorations on the walls; however, the classroom wasn't as big as I'd hope it would be. When I think Kindergarten, I think of a big open classroom so that the students could have space for themselves and to move around. The picture I sketched of the classroom is not scaled to correctly match the classroom space wise. In my drawing, the groups seem very far apart when that wasn't the case at all. There were four groups of four tables, each with a different colored cube velcroed to the middle. That cube was used for Mr. Gonzalez to call on the tables to go sit on the rug, line up, or when he assigned his students to different centers in the class. The way the desks were arranged encourages the students to work in groups, or compare their work with one another. There was a big dry erase board on one side of the wall that was never used. Instead of it being used to write on, Mr. Gonzalez had more decorations attached to it, such as bulletin boards, a calendar, an attendance chart, a list of the months and days of the week, and plenty of other educational materials. The classroom was also equipped with a smart board, which I found fascinating how advance the Newark Public Schools have become since I had been a student there.
