Peoples' Perceptions of Industrialized Agriculture

Nowadays industrialized food has deeply influenced people's life all over the world. With the development of technology, the grain output has increased a lot and freed more and more people from hunger. However, different people hold different views about the modern technologies of agriculture such as the organic foods and genetically modified foods. Form the investigation of five people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, I draw a few conclusions of people's views about industrialized food and the modern technologies: 1. Starvation still exists in many places of the world. 2. People all support the organic food, thinking that the organic foods have more nutrition, better flavor and less pollution by pesticides and fertilizers. 3. Culture, technical level and food policies of a country really influence people's perceptions about the new technologies and the safety of food supply. People form developed country believe their food supply is safe while people from China are worrying about the situation of food safety. 4. In addition, there are many aspects such as different ages, genders, jobs and perceptions of technologies which finally shape the food people purchase. .
             World Hunger and Organic Food.
All the people I interviewed point out that there still exists many people who have no enough food for survive. Three of them agree that there is no enough food for the population, on the contrary, two of them thinks that there is enough food for the population but the reason of famine is uneven distribution of food. Many countries have a large amount of food waste while many countries are short of food. However, all of the people including me believe that with the development of technology the shortage of food will finally be solved.
As for the organic food, from the five people I interviewed I find out that the organic food has already become a kind of daily consumption. All the people believe that the organic food is much healthier than conventional food and they are willing to buy it in a higher price.
