Profiling a Serial Killer

As mentioned above, the perpetrator leaves notes behind in three of the crimes two of which are in the form of musical lyrics from rock music all of which the songs describe death.
             Motive.
The primary reason for these crimes based on the evidence suggest possibly both opportunistic as well as power assertive reasons. The perpetrator had a goal in each crime and clearly knew how to show this goal through the evidence he left behind for each victim. The manner in which the victims were killed also revealed his low self esteem needs met thru aggressive means.
             Precautionary Acts.
Evidence does not suggest any precautionary acts that would be used by the perpetrator to cover up any evidence that might lead to his capture and conviction. It is possible that the perpetrator may have used gloves since no evidence shows traces of fingerprints anywhere. If he did not wear gloves it could be likely that traces could be left on the cd's left at the scenes that were not noted on the evidence bagged in the victim details. The perpetrator was sure to take any.
weapons that may have been used in the case of the young man with slit throat and the young woman whose skeletal remains were found that was possibly shot or stabbed.
             Staging.
The first crime scene provides a perfect example of staging, a behavioral pattern sometimes found at a crime scene, suspected suicide, or an accidental death. It is typically an alteration of evidence to confuse investigators. In this case the perpetrator left a note that made it clear that the victim did not commit suicide, but surrounded her body with what evidence of what would look like she overdosed. It is important to note that according to Bartol and Bartol "in the case of a death, staging is frequently done by someone who has a close association or relationship with the victim" (Bartol 36) which will be discussed further.
             Variable Information.
             Sociocultural.
No evidence present in the crimes show social class, family background or education.
