Keeping Up the Teenage Appearance

The girl sits, terrified as her friends waltz into the formal, each with their size 6 dresses, Gucci handbags, custom heels and carefully plucked eyebrows. One girl quickly swishes her dress to cover her tummy tuck scar, our protagonist is not rich, she did her best; but it hurts and she cannot face the sheers of her so called 'friends'. It is such circumstances that horrify our teenagers, they fear the crowd more than any physical pain. The warped sense of reality has now become something that is being judged but what we now call 'The dictator', but who is this 'dictator' and what are they trying to achieve by this?.
How the world looks today is run by those people we all look up to; the photoshopped, the models and even social medias like Tumblr and Instagram. Each person is influenced by such things which creates an impact on how we look at others and how others look at us. The dictator can otherwise be known as the society, anything can make up society. The models, the media, the billboards we drive past on the highways. Even ourselves are dictators. What someone sees is something different in someone else's eyes. The dictator, this case a model, is known to be charming, strong, good-looking, successful, groovy, brilliant, amusing and rich. By this you are characterised as 'attractive'. The citizens tremble at the thought of 'failure and rejection' and we put each other down and ourselves down because we don't see us as 'attractive'. This makes us change who we are so we fit in.
Not everyone is themselves anymore, buying clothes and trying different fashion trends just to fit in. Why not make your own unique style? "No, I'll be an outcast if I did that" is what someone would reply with. The people today are so sucked into what is being advertised that they become "fake". This is mainly being targeted at females but males take part also. Males like the 'petite' style of women. And what do women want? Males.
