Stress - The Silent Killer

 

We can say that many people think that they can overcome stress by eating. But emotional eating makes them happy for a short time. Then, they start to feel guilty for overeating.
             Stress-induced eating leads to weight gain, which in turn leads people (especially women) to feel worse about them. Then, they start to eat more and gain a lot of weight. As a result of weight gain, people began to have some psychological problems. Psychological consequences of being overweight can include lowered self-esteem and anxiety. Because fat people are generally ashamed of their weight and they think that they will be teased by their overweight. The reasons for why this is so are not to fathom. Modern culture is singular in the way that it worships youthful slim, toned bodies. With rare exceptions, only thin, proportional bodies are considered beautiful. Overweight people are looked down upon. This causes more serious disorders such as depression. Depressıon is a kind of disease. Because of depression, overweight people behavior's start to change negatively. They cannot concentrate, think, or make decisions efficiently. They also approach to people more nervously. So, their circle of friends begins to decrease.
             Depression can cause fear of interaction with others, reduced motivation to seek relationships, or strong anxiety reactions. So, depressed people because of their overweight, begin to be alone. They are not interest in people and activities that were previously enjoyed. This causes withdrawal from socializing. For example, they do not want to do shopping. They hate buying new clothes because they think that new clothes probably will not suitable for them. They also hate mirror. Since they do not want to comment on their appearance and they are afraid of being criticized, they just want to stay at home and they do not do any social activities. This leads to social isolation. Social isolation, as a term, is lack of social interaction, contact, or communication with other people.
