Literacy Narrative - Pick Up a Book and Read

"The Lovely Bones " helped me to develop the part of my mind that understands these things are happening in the world we live in and will only keep me better prepared and highly knowledgeable. You not only have to read the books, poems or stories, you have to understand it to gain something from it. After I realized that there is a purpose behind me reading, I started to feel a sense of bettering myself and learning things that may help me understand this world we live and not be ignorant or lost to incidents of this world. We live in an age where we overflow ourselves with information, but reading is the main way to take advantage of it.
This book helped me to gain a more creative imagination. In the story, Susie was taken to heaven where she meets her guide in the afterlife. Susie realizes that heaven can be whatever she wants it to be, so she chooses to create it in the image of her hometown when she realizes she can't have those things she needs to survive and live, until she notices again that she is already dead and there is nothing she can do to help her family cope with the depression and sadness of her death. If I had to suffer with that situation and to see my family struggle only to know there is nothing I can do about it, I would wonder if there was any other way I could offer myself to another side of the afterlife. Seeing my brothers and sisters grow up and their growth would make me realize I would be missing a lot. Watching my parents go through life and not being able to love their own child would hurt me as much as it would hurt them. I started to imagine what would I wish for? What would I create? Why am I in this situation? So much to think about and so much time to elaborate on it, only to find out there is nothing I can control that I want. Also, realizing that the feeling of other people who are in the same situation I am in only makes me wonder, how could I deal with someone else's problem.
