The Cuban government let anybody leave and an exodus by boat started. In the first scene of the movie, we see Tony being interrogated by US officials, where after he is denied citizenship and sent to an immigration camp. After Tony receives his green card, he is sent to make a drug deal in Miami Beach. Here Tony finds himself surrounded by wealthy people and he then realizes the opportunity he has in the United States. Tony meets drug lord Frank Lopez at his enormous mansion, surrounded by guards. This is what introduces Tony to the world of money, drugs and power. Tony and Frank go out to an expensive restaurant. People are dancing and the atmosphere is festive. People are dressed well for the occasion and they all appear to be happy and part of the American Dream. Three months later Tony goes to visit his mother and sister. His mother lives in a poor and very rundown neighborhood. Her house is reasonably insignificant and low key. Later in the movie Tony meets the Bolivian drug lord Sosa. He lives in an even bigger mansion than Frank does. Sosa's house is well decorated, with a variety of plants in the multiple courtyards, which creates a tranquil environment. Sosa and Tony stroll through Sosa's garden and strike a conversation. This gives the viewer a better perspective of Sosa's personality and authoritarian manor. He then sits down and the atmosphere becomes intense, as Omar is thrown out and hanged from a helicopter. Tony knows if he says anything wrong, he will face the same fate. Towards the end of the movie, Tony has become an immense drug kingpin and decides to deceive Sosa. As Tony's men flee, he is left alone in his lavish mansion, while Sosa's men move in. The atmosphere becomes entirely dramatic as Tony ultimately gets ready for his final showdown. .
Plot Summary .
Tony Montana arrives in the United States after having left Cuba, during the Mariel Boatlift in 1980. He finds himself in a Cuban refugee camp in Miami.
