Eating fish, and drinking green tea, lower major chronic health problems and are also known for its antioxidant benefits (Margolin. 2013). Even though there is no doubt that traditional Asian food is way more healthier than what it has become, fast or processed food, was not necessarily a bad thing. .
Although the fast food culture hasn't done much good to the health of the people, it was for a good cause. People didn't have time and wanted something quick and easier to cook for themselves and their families. Later, a lot of food companies, in greed of making more money, that starting using chemicals to make their food last, advertising in unethical manners, or simply didn't know their products could cause harm to us and the environment. It hasn't been long since people started realizing that fast food culture or modern food, and slowly started gravitating toward Asian food because of its health benefits and taste. Acupuncturist and Herbalist, Cathy Margolin, talks about how and why Asian diet is good, and how it is one of the best form of medicine today, in her article "10 things you need to know about Asian diet". Various other articles and authors I found over my research, like Brad Tuttle, Birke Baehr, etc, too agree that food we eat today has become dangerous and we should start eating fresh and traditional home cooked meals. After this realization, Asian foods like Thai meals, both taste and health pleasing, has become popular and even Acupuncturist and authors like Cathy Margolin and Brad Tuttle recommend it. "The main focus of the Asian diet is to create wellness. This I believe is the best medicine." (Margolin, 1).
Due to this popularity of Thai food, many restaurants and food companies started spreading all over the world. According to Mantra.com, the most westernized part of the world, United States, has about 5,708 Thai restaurants. This shows the growing popularity of the cuisine.
