As a result, he seems to be rather conservative in his views and he get used to accept certain stereotypes, especially concerning racial problems and relations between people to the extent that sometimes a reader can wonder as Jadine does: "Doesn't he know the difference between one black and another or does he think we're all some mess this is" (Morrison 1996, p.125).
Normally, his perspectives and belief system are completely not the same as those of a city young lady Jadine. In some cases he basically cannot acknowledge and comprehend her state of mind and way of life. They have completely different values and its obvious. It appears that he has a totally diverse arrangement of qualities. Case in point, he ponders ""Rape? Why you little white girls always think somebody's trying to rape you? Jadine: White? I'm not you know I'm not white. Son: No? Than why don't you settle down and stop acting like it" (Morrison 1996, p.121). Along these lines, he can't comprehend Jadine and her conduct, in addition, he regards her as though she were a 'white girl' on the grounds that, as indicated by his perspectives, she doesn't go about as a dark young lady ought to. Jadine has grown up in a white household that she doesn't necessarily understand her black background and Son sees right through it. .
Incidentally, it is one of the principle issues that make Jadine profoundly distanced from Son. She is a model who works in such expansive urban communities as New York and Paris and she can't comprehend the reasoning and mindset of such individuals as Son. When Son tries to track down Jade and rekindle his relationship with her, Thérèse warns him that he should stay away from the woman because she has "forgotten her ancient properties" (Morrison 1996, p. 103). What Thérèse means here is that there is a deep history that unites all black people. Jade has chosen to forget about this history and to separate her identity from those of the other black people in her life.
