Findings/ Three Methods.
Researchers may not agree with all the factors that could or could not attribute to the decrease in crime rate, but they have started looking into different research methods when it comes to understanding the dropping percentage rates. They have begun to try and focus their researching points towards the urban culture and sociology of each different region, whether it be in urban ecology and development, youth culture, or for patterns of immigration. Each method helps explain in their own way how the decline in crime rates are due because of results the helped change the cultural and sociological background of the country today, especially when it comes to the cities with the highest rates of crime within them.
When it would come to the field of urban ecology and development, the background information, showed in simplicity that one of the reasoning's for a decreased rate could be because of a bad urban environment in a specific area rather than it being because of morally wrong people. Evidence showed for this that the neighborhoods with a lower fixed income rate, a bad social infrastructure around it, and a high ethnic population density, would be the biggest factors to providing this "dangerous" environment to the area around it. Data shows for this that for in the case of bigger name cities like in the area of New York City, when these lower income neighborhoods were transformed to be more stable throughout because of renovations, at the same time providing homes for the homeless, the crime rate in that area decreased.
In the case of youth culture, there were many conflicting arguments between experts on what exactly could be the cause of a drop in crime rates. Many believe it is not because of the size of the youth population, but rather, it be because of the simple changes in how they see the world around them. Many kids who had family already participating in crime could see that the dealings in which their relatives were in were unsafe and dangerous and that simply it would be better for them to never join them in any of the activities that they participated in.
