Phobias

.
** So you may be asking yourself, what causes a phobia? Well, there are three main causes of phobias.
**First, Phobias can come from false information and beliefs people hold.
--As indicated by an article from the Leader-Post in Regina, many people arachnophobia "the fear of spiders, simply because they believe every kind of spider is dangerous to them.
--These "false information phobias- are the easiest to be cured as stated by a Dr. Thomas of the University of Regina.
** The second cause of phobias is genetic pre-disposition.
--The Daily Review of Hayward, CA. Reported in July that a woman by the name of Vera Karlson has been a victim of a phobia her whole life. .
--The Daily Review also stated that Karlson's mother was extremely phobic.
--Dr. Thomas, again of the University of Regina, declared, "If it runs in the family, the chance of the offspring having the same illness, or phobia, is significantly higher-. .
** The last and most dominant cause of phobias is wonderfully defined by Dr. Ann Hackmann, a behavioral therapist from Oxford University, when she states: "Phobias are generally thought to be caused by pre-programming or [negative stimuli]. .
--Having this negative stimulus with something that the person is afraid of can shove a common fear right into the realm of a phobia.
--Dr. Thomas later in his article further defines pre-programming as "people developing a phobia not because that something harmed them but because that something was around when they had a negative experience."".
** So how are Phobias broken down? Scientists and doctors have identified three main categories of phobias.
**The first category of phobias according to the American Psychiatric Association website is Agoraphobia, which simply means the fear of being alone when escape is difficult. .
--People with Agoraphobia avoid busy streets, stores or theaters simply because they don't want to get "stuck- and have no way to get out.
