Education: Was an important aspect of the Renaissance- indeed the beginnings of the Renaissance were called "the new learning" by scholars who had studied the Ancient Greeks and Romans. Children were not forced by law to go to school in the Tudor and Stuart periods. If they did attend in most cases their parents had to pay the fees. As the Renaissance progressed and as the new learning spread, more and more books became available due to the invention on the printing press and popular ideas about education began to change. It is important to note that up to this time books were mostly written by monks and would therefore have had a certain religious viewpoint in them. The invention of the printing press allowed the scholars with all sorts of different views to make them public. Education improved due to the impact of the printing press.
Drama: Since the middle ages the only kind of drama people ever saw was the mystery play, in which local people would act out stories from the Bible in the streets of their town. This changed in the Reniassance with the spread of new ideas and religious reforms these plays became unpopular- Owueen Elizabeth herself frowned upon them. Because of these changes in attitude many new playwrights began to emerge; they experimented with new kinds of plays, including comedies.
