A Mysterious Man

There is a man who lives alone in darkness, in the mansion on top of the highest mountain in town. No one knows who he is or where he came from. From time to time I think about the man who lives in the mansion. I try to imagine what he looked like and what type of person he is. Is he an old man with nowhere to go or is he someone with no family and lives up in the mansion because he has no one to turn to? Until one cold and stormy night I decide that I am going to find out who the man in the mansion is and to answer all of my questions.
It is time for me to go up and spy on the mansion to see what I can discover. Grabbing my raincoat, I head downstairs to get my keys and go to my car, an old brown Station Wagon which has chipped and faded paint, ripped upholstery, and a cracked windshield. I hop into my car, start it up and back down the driveway. The rain is pouring down too hard for my wipers to keep up. It is like a monsoon hit with full force. Inches of rain falling from the sky cover the ground floor, flooding the streets. Lightning fills the sky, lighting it up like a child's face on Christmas morning, striking phone and electrical lines, cutting power to thousands. Streets are not lit by street lights, but by the flashes of lightning. The earth's floor shakes from the powerful blasts of thunder. I can feel my chest rumble at every blast. .
Driving toward the end of the road I realize that my car is the only one out. I approach the dark and treacherous path leading to the top of the mountain. The storm starts to slow as I begin driving up. I start to creep up the bumpy road dirt road. The road is getting steeper and steeper and steeper. Now three quarters from the top the bald tires on my car start to slip because of the mud, but I continue up the hill. I start to slide.
backwards so I slowly give the throttle a little gas to try to get some traction, but the car continues to slide down the hill.
