Miss Brill

In the short story Miss Brill by Katherine Mansfield is about an aging woman. The story revolves around the protagonist, Miss Brill. Miss Brill suffers from loneliness and a lack of purpose in life.
We live in a real world where real people communicate and interact with each other. However, there are a few people in this world who seem to be out of touch with reality and live their life through dreams like Miss Brill. Miss Brill believes that she is a very important character on a play. She says "yes I have been an actress for a long time". I believe that aging and loneliness has had a big impact on Miss Brill's life. She is also a teacher so she probably stresses a lot. I mean, if I grow old with no family or friends I would be the same and live in an imaginary world where everything is perfect. .
Miss Brill has developed a talent in listening to other people's conversation. Although she has her own opinions she does not physically interfere. I think she does not interfere because she believes she would ruin the "play".
In my opinion young people these days do not respect their elders, just like in Miss Brill. A young couple sat next to Miss Brill and rudely said," why does she come here at all, who wants her? Why doesn't she keep her old mug at home" the unkind couple changed the way Miss Brill sees her self. I believe that Miss Brill did not deserve to hear such a rude remark. That is the only time she gets to relax and enjoy her self.
Over all I would rate the story a 5 out of 10. To me the story was not very interesting. It's not the kind of story I would recommend to my peers. .
