Contemporary Literature Course

Contemporary literature is a great course especially if you like to think and figure things out. Contemporary literature or HUMN420 on your schedule is a course every student should take no matter what your major is. Reading literature has opened my eyes a little more on life, how people see it in different places in life, and in time. You could read something from the early 1800's and see how times have changed or stayed the same. Every poem or short story can change the way you think or look at things. It can help you understand other people in general and maybe understand their point of view on things differently.
One story that I really enjoyed in this class was "Taming the Shrew" it explains in its theme that people are going to act as how they are treated. There is the father Baptista who has two daughters Bianca and Kate. Bianca he treats great, he does not blame her for anything even when she is to blame. While on the other hand Kate is less loved and is blame for everything between her and her sister. Because of this Bianca is very stuck-up (spoiled) and Kate is a shrew. This shows that how you are treated is how you will treat other people in life. Even though, Kate is changed when she meets a man willing to change her by treating her no one has treated her before. Bianca meets a man who is embarrassed of his wife, because she has no respect for him. It was my favorite story in this course and I hope you will enjoy it also.
Finally, contemporary literature is important in your curriculum it will help you understand people better in general. That is if you read what you are supposed to read and come to every class during your semester. You will get something out of this course that is knowledge of people and the decisions some people make. I wish you to enjoy this course and keep your book for future use. Love, Peace, and Happiness be with you.
