            In the film "The Shawshank Redemption" directed by Frank Darabont the qualities that Andy possessed that contributed to the overall impact of the movie were leadership in helping others, intelligence which manipulated the guards And the warden and finally determination to escape from prison.
             After initially keeping to himself Andy's first impressions weren't too popular although as time passed by, he slowly climbed up the ranks and eventually gains respect from his fellow inmates. Most of them turned or relied on Andy whenever there was a problem or needed his help. They looked up to him because of his courageous acts. He didn't fear (negative) authority and wasn't afraid to take a risk against him, by standing up Mr. Hadley the guard on the roof top scene showing both leadership and courage. "Quote".
             After a time, Andy took risks with doing so he did them so intelligently. He not only has intelligence, he has hope of the truly innocent which allows him to prevail behind bars. He was able to uses his knowledge of being a banker as a means of getting special privileges which lead to manipulating the warden and the guards. By doing the books for Norton's illegal business schemes and keeping an eye on the investments of the prison staff.              Determination within Andy took time and patience that he maintained. He had the hope and strength to overcome the situation of been in prison (and overcomes it with planning his escape and eventually he escapes to freedom.) when he realise he could spend the rest of his life in prison. But when one night he carved his named into the concrete wall, a chunk of concrete fell- which stimulated him and meticulously carve away out to freedom after hacking at the wall for 19 years.
