Everybody loves football; in today's society much of our life revolves around football. Remember the Titans is a true-life experience of a high school football team. Who encounters racism, and ultimately becomes united. The movie illustrates ordinary high school kids who were once racist only to become a great family. The major problem facing this team is themselves and the world they eventually challenge. The movie takes place at a single high school in 1971. The movie is the uniting of the black football players with the white football players to get rid of their racial discrimination and come together to play on the football team united. Naturally at this time there was a major racial controversy over the mix of whites and blacks. In the movie the football team is mostly white, players and coaches. In the beginning of the movie there is a switch in the head coach position. The starting head coach Yoast is replaced by a black man by the name of coach Boon. This immediately causes a problem now because the existing white players do not want to play under a black coach. The players are given a choice, play under a black head coach or quit. The players decide to accept the offer and go on to establishing great friendships with the other race. .
The whites in this movie are portrayed as being selfish and spoiled. They are portrayed as getting what they always want and if somebody gets in their way they use their size to get what they want. They believe that everything is there's, like the football team, and the school. They all act like those things were there's and no black person can have any part of it. They are not persecuted in the sense that the blacks were. They did not have to worry about being hated by anybody else except by the blacks. .

The whites in the movie though were illustrated as being the bad guys of this true-life story. The movie illustrates for us the amount of hate and agony that the black people of this time had to go through.
