Throughout the years many great people have written many great poems. One poem that reaches out to me is "The Road Not Taken", by Robert Frost. This poem deals with a life choice that everyone has to make, a path that has to be chosen but an outcome that is usually unknown. This poem also shows examples of archetypes such as a quest wheel, initiation wheel and the circle of life.
One example this poem shows is a quest wheel. A quest wheel is a journey one takes to accomplish a goal in life. In "The Road Not Taken", it talks about a person coming to a point in ones life where they got to choose which path to take. One can take the path in which everyone travels or the one seldom taken by travelers. The decision he/she makes at this point makes a difference in their life. The examples of the paths one must chose in life is the example of the quest wheel used in this poem. Throughout life we come to life changing decisions such as this. This is why people never stay the same because we change from day to day through the decisions we make.
Another example this poem shows is the initiation wheel. The initiation wheel is a life lesson that one learns. A life lesson is usually learned when having to make a decision in life. One learns what could have happened if they had only chose the other choice. Without lessons in life we would never remember things we learned. It is well known that people learn best from their mistakes. The path that Robert Frost chooses in this poem will teach him a life lesson. He says in the poem and I quote "I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference". Which means the decision he just made will teach him a life lesson and have an impact on his life.
Lastly, "The Road Not Taken", by Robert Frost shows examples of the archetype known as the circle of life. Robert uses two paths in the woods to talk about life changing decisions we face in everyday life.
