Over the years cartoons have took a turn from positive to almost negative. From cartoons like Fragle Rock and Fat Albert, to Power Rangers, Dragonball Z, and X-Men. Many of these cartoons are action-oriented and are filled with violence. These cartoons can have many effects on children. These effects include that the children are more aggressive with playmates, they do not see the danger in these types of cartoons, and most children cannot distinguish the good from the bad.
Say if a child watches cartoons, which deal with violence, every night. The next day he or she is out playing with schoolmates during recess. The child may think that it is all right to do everything that they see on the cartoons. They begin to play more aggressive and imitate every move that they saw or television. They do not know how harmful it can be to other children.
A second effect could be that that child does not see the danger in action-oriented cartoons. They don't think that it his harmful to anybody whatsoever. Say if in a cartoon a person gets hit. Within a minute the cartoon character hops right back up as if nothing has happened. The child can actually think that hitting anybody is ok because they wouldn't be hurt. That's why cartoons should tell the truth to let children know the dangers of violence.
A final effect would be that the child will not be able to distinguish the good form the bad. Most children learn from what they see off of television. At a young age a child would think that all of these cartoons are good. We all know the older you get, the wiser you are. But these are very young children who need to be taught what is good and what is bad. The bad thing about it the television doesn't talk back.
What happens to children when thy watch action-oriented cartoons? Some become more aggressive, while others can't distinguish the good from the bad.
