When the Weather changes and starts to get colder the tiger puts on about 2 inches of fat under its skin to protect itself from the harsh climate. The Siberian Tigers diet consists mainly of deer, wild boar, elk, lynx, bear and also smaller prey such as fish, rabbits and hares. He needs to east at least 20 lbs of meat a day to survive the cold climate of his environment. The tiger can eat up to 100 lbs of meat at one meal. The tiger is much like other wildcats and hunts at night. The cat stalks the prey, and when there is a chance of success at a meal, the cat pounces on the victims and delivers a bite to the neck and suffocates the prey. When the tiger has had a successful kill, it will drag the prey to hide it from other predators, will rest, and eat the deserved meal. If the beast is unable to eat all of his catch at one setting, it will cover it and take a nap. The meal is then finished upon awakening.
