             A serious issue that is going on in the world today are Sexually Transmitted Diseases. These diseases are very dangerous and can also lead up to death. Many people are educated about these transmitted diseases, but many people have the disease and don't know about it. STD's affect men and women of all backgrounds and economic levels. Nearly two-thirds of all STD's occur in people younger than 25 years of age. The incidence of STD's is rising due to more teenagers being more sexually active. The outcome of sexually active people today are more likely to have multiple sex partners during their lives and are potentially at risk for developing STD's. Women tend to get more health problems caused by STD's than for men.
             AIDS(acquired immunodeficiency syndrome) was first reported in the United States in 1981. The virus destroy's the body's ability to fight off infection. Transmission of this virus primarily occurring during sexual activity and by sharing needles used to inject intravenous drugs. AIDS can be in your system and can show up six months later after the transmission in your body. Still up to this day, a cure has not been created, but there are treatments for this virus. The treatments that are out there today are very expensive and a lot of the people that are effected can not afford this type of medicine. An old star Basketball player name "Magic" Johnson found out that he was diagnosed with HIV. He did what he can do to try to get as much help as possible. Not only does he try to help himself, but he does what he can to try to find a cure for the virus. He has donated so much money so that other people can also get as much help as he is getting.
             There are many ways of getting Sexually Transmitted Diseases these days. The most common way of getting them is by having unprotected sex. Taking the time to use a condom can save any person in the long run. But there is one disease out that a condom cannot protect and that is HPV, which causes genital warts.
