There are both benefits and shortcomings associated with Medicare that can be seen throughout the years following the enactment of the federal program particularly in the areas of hospital-related services, Medical expenditures, and other health programs. .
             One of the benefits of Medicare is that it pays a substantial portion of the hospital and medical bills for services to millions of aged people. The effect has been that since the enactment of Medicare in 1965, millions of aged persons have received more adequate care and endured less financial burdens in terms of medical costs. The Medicare program also made possible access to other health center faster and easier. Because of Medicare, many hospitals and nursing homes are able to provide continual care to patients. The quality of Medical care also increased since the enactment of Medicare in 1965. Medicare requires certain service reviews in hospitals and extended care facilities, the quality of care increased as the national and review committees put restrictions on certain equipments.
             The overall effect was that it allowed expansion in many facilities in terms of quality and utility. As the quality of health care increases, seniors benefit by being well taken care of under the enactment of the Medicare program. Medicare, moreover, have had a wide influence on other federal medical care programs since 1965. In the early 1970s, Congress succeeded in expanding Medicare benefits in other programs as well.
