On June 5th, 1898 a great artist in many ways was born in Granada. Federico Garcia Lorca was one of the great Spanish writers and artists of the 20th century. In his short life he produced novels, short stories, poetry as well as paintings drawings and even musical compositions. Between August 17th and 19th, at the age of 38, Lorca was beaten to death by Franco's allergists along with several other people including political opponents of Franco. While his homosexuality was known even then, his fascist assassins used to make this a bit of a "rough trade" gone wrong.
Lorca grew up in a town called Granada, which is Spain. But during his life he lived in many places, such as: Cuba, US, Puerto Rico and Spain. He spent the last of his life in Granada where he had spent most of his life. In Granada, where he wrote stoires, painted pictures and composed music. He never had many teachers and cam out to be a very good artist in these different ways. He would excel in writing and composing more then in his paintings. That would be argued by other people though. .
When he came back to Granada, after living in various places all over the world. He didn't know what was in store for him. He knew there was a war going on between the falangists and other unknown enemies. .
There are many different people, that have different stories and some are quite similar. This is the story that I have learned to be the truth about how lorca was arrested and later on killed.
One morning a week after arriving to his home in Granada, he spots two men looking into his yard through the gate. He wasn't sure what they were doing. Just walking by? Looking for him? Or looking for someone else? After a few minutes then two men take off and Lorca is wondering why they were there. He starts to become worried about the two men. Later on in the afternoon of the same day he recieves a letter that concludes his worries.
