             Another issue of identity between the two conquests was that of religion. Protestantism in North America was diffused out of tradition. It was the primary (if not only) religion practiced in Great Britain, so no questions were asked when colonial settlers brought Protestantism to North America, for what other religion were they to bring? In Latin America, however, religion was diffused by force with the purpose of unifying the people. No other religious practice was tolerated-it was Catholicism or nothing. We can see a difference in this scenario in North America, where some variations on Protestantism (Quakerism, etc.) were formed to suit the needs of the new inhabitants and their interests. #3: Evaluative claims about entire groups of people are often vulnerable to the "cultural chauvinism- objection. Explain that objection and provide some supporting examples.
             The "cultural chauvinism- objection explores the idea that these evaluative claims are made about entire ethnic groups for the sole purpose of the arguer making himself feel more superior to other cultures. He doesn't necessarily have any evidence supporting the supplied information, all of the data is descriptive and does not give the argument grounding. He clings to those characteristics which are natural and observable to produce an evaluative claim about an ethnic group. We can see an example of this in Adolf Hitler's anti-Semitic movement, where a mass genocide was a result of his evaluative claims against Jewish people in Germany. Alfredo L. Palacios also posited some unsupported arguments that the West was on its way to decline, and that Latin America should go off and create its own race and stop focusing on trying to mimic Europe's societies. .
             #4: In which sense, if any, are Palacios's and Vasconcelos's views concerning a Latin American race similar? Would they be vulnerable to the "cultural chauvinism- objection? If so, how? If not, why not?.
