             What Post Abortion Syndrome is and Is it Real?.
             Induced abortions can have negative effects on the mother as well as those who surround .
             her. Studies have shown that women who have experienced an abortion have shown both .
             physical and psychological negative effects. Approximately 77% of the questionnaire participants .
             agreed that abortion can be very dangerous both physically and psychologically, over 80% of the .
             participants agree that abortion will have negative effects on the mother. In the author's .
             questionnaire data was also collected concerning the physical effects, over 50% of the participants .
             agreed that women could show signs of breast cancer, miscarriages and bleeding from the pelvis .
             as physical effects (See Appendix C for visual statistics). The data that the author has collected .
             corresponds with that of Elizabeth Ring-Cassidy and Ian Gentles, (2002) whom have described .
             many of the negative effects following abortions. They described some of the physical effects as .
             an increase in the over-all risk of breast cancer by 30%, an increased risk in subsequent premature .
             births as well as a significant risk of infertility, pelvic inflammatory disease, and many others. This .
             study explained that the mothers who have had an abortion are also in danger of haemorrhages .
             due to the abortion.
             Dr. Brenda Major conducted a similar study to show the physical and psychological .
             effects of abortion. During her research she discovered that 17% of women experienced physical .
             problems such as bleeding or pelvic infection associated with the abortion. She explained that this .
             rate is very high considering clinic counsellors rarely inform women of this rate of physical .
             complications (2000).
