Bill Gates

A deal was made between the Computer Center Corporation and Lakeside Prep that allowed more computer time for the students. Bill and his comrades formed a hacking group called the Programmers Group in 1968, and caused many problems with this new computer. They managed to break the computer's security system and crashed the system several times. They also altered the filesd that recorded the amount of time they spent on the computer. Soon after while, the Computer Center Corporation caught them in the act and banned them from computer usage for several weeks. But they were also determined to apply their skills in the real world and manifest the mischief they were causing in a positive manner. The Computer Corporation was suffering due to the weak security of the system, and the frequency of the system crashing. As a result of the problems Bill and his hacking crew caused to the computer system, the Computer Corporation decided to hire the students to find weaknesses in the system and also find bugs, because they were impressed with the students' drive and determination. So in return, The Computer Center Corporation gave unlimited computer time to the students, which was an offer they could not refuse.
Ever since then, the Lakeside Programmers Group searched for more and more chances to apply their skills. They got an early opportunity the following year when Information Sciences Inc. hired the programmers' group to program a payroll. Another opportunity they could not refuse because once again, they were given free computer time and finally a source of income. They were given royalties whenever Information Sciences Inc. made money from any of the group's programs. Since the Lakeside Programmers Group had to become a legal business because of the business deal they signed with Information Sciences Inc., Gates and Paul Allen decided to start another company on their own called: Traf-O-Data.
