With the justice system changing so are the answers to these questions.
Violent teens or young offenders should be expelled from school in only the more serious cases. Only someone whom really deserves it and poses a large threat to students and teachers should be permanently removed from the school. If these particular teens cannot handle living in a normal non-violent society, they should be removed. Other young offenders who have summary offences rather then indictable offences should have lots of alternative punishments and opportunities to rehabilitate themselves, and stray them from the wrong route. These decisions to put them on alternative punishment should be made carefully depending on the character of the violent teen or young offender. The choice they made should be based on if they think the teen will re-offend or not. .
.
The Youth Criminal Justice Act is basing their indictments on the age of the offender and the crime they committed, not too much new there. That is not what is changing though, punishments are now moving towards a more meaningful and constructive solution to a problem which can and will be fixed with rehabilitation and alternative programs, which are in all likely hood to benefit the community, versus an incredibly expensive hard punishable sentence which you must out live only to be released more knowledgeable in crime to re-offend again, as jail promotes criminal activity, and we are using tax payers money to promote criminal activity. .
Do you go to school with a young offender? If you did or are, you probably didn't know that when they started at your school, or even for a long time after. Would you feel safe in a neighbourhood, which has 246 sexual offenders within 3 kilometres from you, and you didn't know who any of them are, or even know remotely the magnitude of the number in the area. Should information like this be released to the public for society's safety? Should information about young offenders, specifically on their offence be released to the public and students whom may come in contact with him at school?.
