However the method of doubt is not Descartes individual theory, it is a theory that was generated from his writings. His writings were simply based on his individual life e.g. "I" .and "my childhood" etc. His philosophy is made up of objectives and replies in which he puts forward a statement to doubt everything but the problem was the method of doubt in its entirety and its accuracy. He wanted to be sure that all his opinions were true thus getting rid of the false opinions generated earlier in his life (discussed above) in order to be satisfied that true opinions were included in the foundations for his science.

As Descartes philosophy is famous throughout the world is thus reasonable that his assumptions and statements were/are heavily criticised by past and present philosophers in order to gain a higher understanding of the topic.
