Victimless Crimes

Victimless crimes are simply defined as a crime having no victim. I believe the laws against victimless crimes are not direct threats to the privacy of individuals. On the contrary the laws help protect the existing right we have as individual and help assure a civilized society. In criminalizing certain acts, society makes a judgment that there can be no privacy interest in those acts. These acts of self abuse are destructive. These crimes erode the systems of ethics" and morals in the fabric of our society. .
I must point out that while I agree with many of the laws against victimless crimes I do not agree with them all. A few of the laws I will justify are drug prohibition, alcohol and tobacco prohibition, and nudity prohibition. .
Drug prohibition is for the welfare of society as a whole. I can speak from experience on drug use and abuse. After prolonged drug uses of any kind the user is going to become addicted. Addiction causes people to go to any length to get there drug of chooses. Drugs are not cheap. People lie, steal, and manipulate. They sell there children's toys and rob from there piggy banks. Where would this leave our nation if drugs are legalized? If people could freely buy and sell drugs our nation would be torn apart. Insurance premiums and deductibles would sky rocket because of the price of treatments centers. Most addicts would not fortunate enough to still have insurance so the state would be forced to spend more money on rehabilitation. With this would come an increase in taxes. These things are already happening with drugs being illegal. Families are ripped apart and children are born into addiction. .
Drugs also cause deterioration of the brain. Chronic LSD use leads to sciz-affective disorder. It burns out the part of the brain which enables one to be a law abiding citizen. Narcotic abuse can lead to abscesses in skin, lungs, and brain, infection of the heart valves, pneumonia, liver dysfunction, seizures.
