             Proletarian, Proletarians are similar to the Epsilons of Brave New World. The groups in Brave .
             New World are programmed, both through the treatment as embryos and through .
             Hypnopaedia (a method of teaching while you sleep), to behave in the same way within their .
             classes, and therefore allow social stability. This removes individuality among the lower classes, .
             and creates stability throughout, as every class is programmed ,through childhood, to be suited .
             for the jobs in which they will be placed, and to be happy within their class .
             position for life. "Bokanovsky's Process is one of the major instruments of social .
             stability!- This quote underscores the entire idea .
             behind this modern civilization " lack of individuality. .
             The controlling superiors of Brave New World and 1984 control and .
             condition the lower classes by using thoughtful and effective techniques. In Brave .
             New World the controlling state provides the lower class with a state produced .
             drug, called Soma. It provides instant gratification and an escape from any .
             emotion they do not want to experience they call the release of emotions, soma holidays. This .
             drug can also be seen to symbolize the detachment of the people from their own humanity. .
             In the novel 1984 they use a unique form of controlling the .
             Proles emotions. The government in 1984 uses a special lottery, a lottery that has it's .
             weekly pay-off of enormous prizes. The lottery is the one thing the Proles look .
             forward to and pay serious attention to, it's their delight, and their .
             intellectual stimulant. The lottery was used to keep the population entertained and .
             interested; it also diverted their attention from the seemingly more important issues .
             such as state control and government so as they would not interfere. .
             The party, in 1984, could also provoke thoughts and feelings through .
             introducing propaganda such as posters promoting the party. An example of this .
             takes place during Hate Week, when posters of an enemy soldier were plastered .
